Martin Chalfie won the 2008 Nobel Prize for chemistry.
Last Wednesday, Martin Chalfie, Osamu Shimomura, and Roger Tsien won the chemistry Nobel for discovering and developing green fluorescent protein (GFP), the jelly fish protein that’s since allowed biologists to observe the intricate mechanisms of animal cells. Now, all three winners have joined 61 other Nobel laureates in endorsing Barack Obama for President.
For the next three weeks, ScienceBlogs and SEA are inviting any scientist to join the A Vote for Science YouTube Challenge: make a video that reveals which presidential candidate you intend to vote for on November 4, and why. The first person to enter the contest was Dr. Chalfie, who says that adding his name to the Obama list was the first thing he did (!) after learning that he had won the prize. (Video embedded here, below the fold.)
So far, no laureates have endorsed John McCain.
